2019 Adopt a Fam­i­ly Kickoff

Each hol­i­day sea­son, Ken­neth Young Cen­ter orga­nizes an Adopt a Fam­i­ly dri­ve to pro­vide our clients with the high­est needs with extra sup­port and hol­i­day cheer. Through this pro­gram, gen­er­ous com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers pro­vide gifts or basic needs items to the kids, adults, seniors, or fam­i­ly mem­bers of peo­ple who are engaged in our ser­vices, and are fac­ing an espe­cial­ly dif­fi­cult time or iso­la­tion dur­ing the hol­i­day sea­son. While the gifts them­selves are much-need­ed and thor­ough­ly appre­ci­at­ed, we hear from many of our clients that they’re most grate­ful to know that there are peo­ple in the com­mu­ni­ty who tru­ly care about them.

You Can Make a Difference

KYC wel­comes com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers, cor­po­ra­tions, church­es, and com­mu­ni­ty groups to par­tic­i­pate in this drive.

Become a Captain

Cap­tains are the point peo­ple at each par­tic­i­pat­ing orga­ni­za­tion who vol­un­teer to coor­di­nate their group’s par­tic­i­pa­tion. Cap­tains work with KYC staff to choose the kind of dri­ve they will hold and recruit indi­vid­u­als from their group to par­tic­i­pate. We ask that Cap­tains deliv­er col­lect­ed gifts or items to KYC by Decem­ber 6, 2019 or work with KYC to sched­ule a pickup. 

Choose Your Drive

There are two ways that your group can choose to par­tic­i­pate. You can choose to pur­chase gifts for an indi­vid­ual client (each gift totals $25 to $50), or you may choose to orga­nize a gen­er­al gift or basic needs drive.

If you choose to adopt indi­vid­u­als, KYC will pro­vide you with as many client wish list tags as you request. 

• Make tags avail­able to group mem­bers who would like to participate.
• Col­lect the gifts. Gifts are request­ed to be wrapped in gift bags. 

If you choose to orga­nize a gen­er­al gift dri­ve or basic needs item dri­ve, please work with KYC staff direct­ly to deter­mine the kinds of items you plan to collect. 

• Des­ig­nate a col­lec­tion spot for par­tic­i­pants to drop off their gifts or items.
