In honor of National Social Work Month, we asked Yvonne to share about how her background in social work has impacted her approach to care.
Yvonne’s Insights
“What has inspired me in this field is honestly that I have always loved working with the clients. I am always impressed by the resiliency of the people that we work with and the obstacles that they overcome. I have always loved watching the process of a client growing and starting to make changes to improve their lives.
I am very grateful in this work that I studied to be a social worker verses other possible degrees. Social work really prepared me to understand how a person’s environment impacts their Recovery. Clients benefit from assistance learning how to best navigate different systems in their lives from benefits and housing to their family. Social Work does a really good job training students in understanding how the environment impacts an individual and the importance of looking at the interplay of the individual and the environment.”
Celebrating Social Workers
KYC is grateful for the many social workers who are a part of our team, and to all social workers who help their communities thrive. Thank you for all you do, and Happy National Social Work Month!
