ADHD: From Basics to Tips, Hacks & Treatment

Pre­sen­ter Cheri DeMoss MA, LCPC, CADC, NCAD­CII, MAC, NCRS, CAADC, will be hold­ing a train­ing on ADHD and Sub­stance Abuse Dis­or­ders along with tech­niques to sup­port these clients at Ken­neth Young Cen­ter’s Elk Grove Vil­lage office.

Objec­tives for this train­ing will include:

  • Learn the dif­fer­ence between alco­holism, per­son­al­i­ty dis­or­der and dysfunction
  • Under­stand how client’s adult choic­es are influ­enced by their parent’s behaviors
  • Rec­og­nize the influ­ences, sim­i­lar­i­ties, and dif­fer­ences that cre­ate the fab­ric of the client’s life 
  • Learn how to help client’s make mind­ful choices
  • Han­dling emo­tion­al dys­reg­u­la­tion and rejec­tion sen­si­tiv­i­ty as a first priority
  • Under­stand how ADHD impacts ALL areas of a client’s life.
  • How to sep­a­rate feel­ings from reac­tions in order to find tips that work for clients

Pre­sen­ter Biography

Cheri DeMoss is founder and direc­tor of Empow­er­ing Options Coun­sel­ing Inno­va­tions spe­cial­iz­ing in edu­ca­tion­al ther­a­py. Over the past 30 years Cheri has designed and pre­sent­ed train­ing sem­i­nars for both Nation­al and State wide con­fer­ences as well as cor­po­rate and small busi­ness­es. Cheri’s com­bines an inno­v­a­tive and insight­ful approach with a ener­getic and stim­u­lat­ing pre­sen­ta­tion man­ner to pro­vide par­tic­i­pants with clear infor­ma­tion and effec­tive tech­niques they can imple­ment imme­di­ate­ly. She cre­ates a shame-free and emo­tion­al­ly safe envi­ron­ment where indi­vid­u­als learn and devel­op a pas­sion for the subject. 

In addi­tion to pro­vid­ing indi­vid­ual, group and cou­ple coun­sel­ing, Cheri teach­es adult edu­ca­tion, rela­tion­ship class­es, and designs and presents sem­i­nars and work­shops on innu­mer­able top­ics. This expe­ri­ence has giv­en her excep­tion­al skills in moti­vat­ing atten­dees. Cheri has an extreme­ly unique abil­i­ty to engage audi­ences and clients alike with a man­ner that enables them think, feel, and expe­ri­ence the topic.
