Communities for Positive Youth Development Coalition
Kenneth Young Center’s Communities for Positive Youth Development (CPYD) Coalition is a collaboration of community partners who share the common goal of positive youth development, including a lifestyle that is free of alcohol, drugs, and other substances and promotes diverse recovery support services across the lifespan. The community coalition model is an evidence-based strategy to address public health issues through coordinated efforts. By using local data and a strategic planning process that is inclusive of our partners, including youth and persons with lived experiences, the coalition supports comprehensive strategies to address those issues that are most relevant to the community and to foster positive youth development.
The coalition’s goal is to reflect the diversity of our community and to have a strategy in place to ensure that all community voices are being engaged. Learn more about our CPYD Coalition by connecting with us!
LGBTQ+ Center
KYC’s LGBTQ+ Youth and Young Adult Center is a safe space for youth and allies to learn about self-expression and identity, while building strong interpersonal connections with other LGBTQ+ youth (11−17) and young adults (18−24). With events throughout the month, our LGBTQ+ Center provides entertainment, educational opportunities, and social activities. Teens and young adults can come to enjoy creative arts, movie or board game nights, yoga/meditation, community service activities, and more. These events provide learning opportunities about inclusive, positive, healthy behaviors, and opportunities to collaborate on leadership activities. Designed with the feedback provided by the LGBTQ+ therapeutic group that was conducted at Kenneth Young Center, the LGBTQ+ Center is focused on youth-led, youth-empowered programming.
